Bishop’s Report

Bishop Beisner suggested that the Standing Committee might want to choose their next president by nomination and election at the close of the next Diocesan Convention, rather than to rely upon a tradition of most senior member taking the office.  He requested that they plan for an orderly progression of officers at this year’s Convention.

The Bishop reported that after much thought and study, he had voted not to consent to the election of Kevin Thew Forrester as Bishop of Northern Michigan.

The Bishop invited Chancellor Charles Mack to report on the settlement of the case involving St. John’s Episcopal in Petaluma.  Charles gave some of the details of the settlement and stated that the Episcopal congregation will take occupancy of the church buildings on July 1, 2009.

Interviews

Andrea Baker, Christopher Arnold and Larry Holben were interviewed for readiness for Candidacy.  No decisions were made due to lack of a quorum.

The remainder of the agenda was deferred due to lack of a quorum.  A teleconferenced meeting will be scheduled for Wednesday, June 3 at 10 a.m. to resolve the deferred items.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be Friday, June 26 at 10 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Office of the Bishop, with at least one member calling in.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
